What a joy to have a daughter!

Last weekend, when John and Patrick were away at another cross country meet in Tokyo, Katie and I had a wonderful, cozy Saturday evening together.

We put the little boys in bed and watched Miss Potter, which I have been looking forward to since I bought the movie while we were home this summer. Katie and I both thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and it has been such fun to talk about it in the days afterwards. While she has always been a blessing to me, I think that as Katie grows, she will be my salvation in this family of males. I hope I will be hers, as well.

It is so nice to have someone around who understands when I want to set a pretty table or wrap a gift in a special way...or watch a "g irl movie."

Prayer to Our Lady of La Leche for Another Child

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother the Child Jesus, and my Mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Saviour. Intercede with Him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

Prayer to St. Gerard for Safe Delivery

O great Saint Gerard, beloved servant of Jesus Christ, perfect imitator of your meek and humble Savior, and devoted child of Mother of God, enkindle within my heart one spark of that heavenly fire of charity which glowed in thine and made thee a seraph of love.

O glorious Saint Gerard, because when falsely accused of crime, thou didst bear, like thy Divine Master, without murmur or complaint, the calumnies of wicked men, you have been raised up by God as the patron and protector of expectant mothers. Preserve me from danger and from the excessive pains accompanying childbirth, and shield the child which I now carry, that it may see the light of day and receive the purifying and life-giving waters of baptism through Jesus Christ our Lord. Novena for Life

Novena begins each day for nine days with this beautiful prayer composed by John Paul II, in Evangelium Vitae:

O Mary, Bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the Living, to you do we entrust the cause of Life. Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult, of men and women who are victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy. Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of Life with honesty and love to the people of our time. Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new, the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives, and the courage to bear witness to it resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of good will, the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life.

Mary, we honor you as the Mother of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Blessed among all women, you are especially favored by God. Confident in that honor we place before you our needs and intentions (name the intention).
